The Parker Celebrates Its Transformation With Ribbon Cutting And Rededication Ceremony

Dignitaries, donors, and supporters recently celebrated the $30 million reimagining of the storied entertainment venue, The Parker, with a ribbon-cutting and rededication ceremony.

Located in Holiday Park in Fort Lauderdale, The Parker is an affiliated venue of the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, which provides programming and management of the facility. The Broward Center and The Parker are supported by the Broward Performing Arts Foundation, which raised $30 million to renovate Parker Playhouse, pay homage to its rich history, and renew the theater as a place for arts and culture, entertainment, and education for generations to come as The Parker. Broward Center President and CEO Kelley Shanley joined Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis, Fort Lauderdale Commissioner Steve Glassman, Performing Arts Center Authority Chair Barbra Stern, Broward Performing Arts Foundation Chair Richard Welch, and Broward Performing Arts Foundation President Lisa Kitei in welcoming guests and speaking to the important legacy of The Parker in the cultural development of Fort Lauderdale and its promise for the future. Beautifully renovated, The Parker offers the ultimate theater experience with its neo-classical beauty, soaring grand entrance, and warm and elegant hall featuring wide rows, continental seating, all-new state-of-the-art acoustics, and remarkable sightlines. Enhanced hospitality spaces offer ample opportunities for audiences to enjoy culture, cocktails, and conversation throughout the theater. And students of Broward County will return this year for educational programs as part of the Broward Center’s Student Enrichment Through the Arts Program in partnership with Broward County Public Schools. For more than 30 years, the Broward Performing Arts Foundation has been instrumental in providing support for the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. The Foundation was established in 1985 to deliver the required private funding to build the Center and create an endowment to sustain its operations.
