In the uncertain times that we are currently in, there is always one thing you can do to social distance and follow the government guidelines, and that’s fish! With the Bahamas being closed, along with many other hot fishing destinations, we are coming into some of the greatest local fishing of the year.
This time of year fishing brings us the best time to get out on the water and catch a variety of species. The blackfin tuna are around, eating small feathers and mylar lures, trolling, or using live bait. The wahoo are biting on the deep baits planner fishing. The mahi-mahi start to show up offshore and can be caught trolling or fishing with live baits.
If trolling is not your thing, then you can always anchor up on the reef and go yellowtail fishing. Yellowtail fishing is fun for the entire family. The technique that we prefer is to fish at night, anchor up in 60-70 ft. of water, and chum using silversides as bait. When the weather is right, this is a good time to head offshore and go swordfishing. The swordfish bite has really been on fire!
Boating and spending time with your family is one of the safest and most fun activities that we can do while battling the coronavirus.
Be safe, and good catching!
