There is a new resort in Key Largo, Playa Largo Resort & Spa, that redefines luxury in the Florida Keys. This beautiful resort is located on 14.5 secluded beachfront acres boasting gorgeous views of the Florida Bay. Everything from the décor in the lobby to the restaurants, rooms and suites is beautifully decorated in a contemporary beach theme. It is part of the Autograph Collection Hotels, which are all very unique and charming.
There are 144 luxury rooms and suites, 10 two-story bungalows, and a three-bedroom beach house with a private pool for guests to enjoy. The free-form resort pool offers all types of comfortable seating with individual tents, cabana chairs and sofa seating areas. There is also a 23-slip private marina for boaters to use to enjoy the resort’s restaurants and facilities. A limited number of private memberships are available for those seeking a club environment. When it comes to dining, there are some great options. We enjoyed wonderful snapper and conch ceviche at Las Olas Restaurant, which is an authentic Peruvian ceviche bar featuring a wide variety of sushi and other items. The next meal was at La Marea steakhouse which features Larry Kline steaks, one of the best steaks we have ever enjoyed. Sol by the Sea is another option for dining and is a beachfront open-air restaurant and bar with beautiful views of the Bay and the marina. If you want some light bites during the day and refreshing beverages, the Sand Bar is conveniently located between the pool and the beach.
The full-service Ocean Spa, Salon and Fitness facilities offer a full array of spa services. Some of the guest favorites are the Pineapple and Hibiscus spa treatments. You can enjoy classic massages, skin enhancements, body treatments and much more. There is a Playa Largo Scrub Bar for guests to create their own tropical scrubs. The resort has a jogging trail and basketball and tennis courts, in addition to all types of watersports activities. Two fire pits are also on property for guests to use and to get to know other guests.
The development of this resort was done with the delicate environment of the Florida Keys and its exotic plant and wildlife at the top of the developer’s mind. The resort moved dozens of decades-old gumbo limbo trees, studied the area’s butterfly species, and created a nature trail for guests to enjoy some of the local species. The resort also provides guests with reusable in-room glasses and refill stations. The resort does not have or use disposable water bottles on property, and ninety percent of the rooms have rainforest showers instead of bathtubs. The resort also features Playa Kids, which offers arts and crafts, dive-in movies, scavenger hunts, games, sports and more for the kids. If you are someone who likes to mix business with pleasure, this resort also features a business and work-productivity center. There is also a large ballroom with private courtyard for group events. From the beautiful décor to the quality of personal service that Playa Largo Resort offers, this beautiful and unique resort should definitely be added to your bucket list.
