The American Heart Association’s Broward Heart Ball
Lighthouse Point Police Officers and volunteers, along with some local “Special Olympic Athletes,” worked along side the staff of Bonefish Mac’s and helped to raise funds for and awareness of the Special Olympics program. There were silent auctions and 50/50 raffles throughout the evening, and Law Enforcement Torch run apparel for sale to raise funds for a great cause. The American Heart Association welcomed more than 300 guests to its annual Broward Heart Ball at the Ritz-Carlton in Fort Lauderdale. The event’s goal is to raise critical funds for lifesaving heart disease and stroke research. Chairing this year’s campaign was Aurelio M. Fernandez, III, FACHE President and Chief Executive Officer Memorial Healthcare System. During the program, Fernandez passed the torch to 2020 Heart Ball Chair, John Stetson, Founder and Managing member of HS Contrarian Investments, and President of the John & Tarra Stetson Charitable Foundation. Guests enjoyed a live auction with an opportunity to bid on an assortment of unique prizes, including a diamond necklace from Daoud’s Fine Jewelry, a VIP experience at the Florida Panthers hockey game, a signed Miami Heat basketball and jersey, a private day at sea aboard a yacht, and more. The evening concluded with dinner and dancing, followed by a light performance by newly-signed Epic/Sony artist, Nasir Dean, also known as Marcato. The American Heart Association’s Heart Ball
is a nationwide gala that celebrates the organization’s mission and success being a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives.
