History Fort Lauderdale’s Free Florida Stories’ App Offers An Entertaining & Educational Alternative

While History Fort Lauderdale, proud steward of our community’s past by making our heritage accessible and engaging to residents and visitors, has not officially reopened to the public amidst COVID-19 concerns just yet, its “Walk Fort Lauderdale” app is available year-round. Offered as a free download via the Florida Stories app through the App Store and Google Play, “Walk Fort Lauderdale” is an ideal way to celebrate Historic Preservation Month by viewing archival photos, renderings and cultural narratives that allow visitors to learn about the colorful history of Fort Lauderdale at their own pace and on their own time during this period of coronavirus social distancing. “Walk Fort Lauderdale” includes up to 1.5 miles and 12 significant locations with accompanying audio descriptions of five minutes or less per stop plus historic renderings. The Fort Lauderdale tour is complemented with a 4”x 9” printed full-color rack card with tour stop icons and a map.  History Fort Lauderdale, formerly known as Fort Lauderdale Historical Society, brings the stories of our diverse community to life through engaging educational experiences, innovative cultural exhibits, research and preservation of artifacts.
