2019 Lighthouse Point Library Volunteer Luncheon.
In the last fiscal year, over 100 people between the ages of 13 and 95 volunteered over 10,000 hours at the Lighthouse Point Library. Volunteers perform tasks for the Library without wages, benefits, or compensation of any kind. They include retirees, local business leaders, and students earning community service hours toward graduation, among others. By supporting the paid staff, volunteers participate in multiple facets of the library, including circulation desk assistance, teaching senior programs, youth foreign language tutoring, shelving materials, coordinating youth programming, book sale management, technology tutoring, shelf reading, website support, help at city events, special projects and serving on library boards. As a small token of the library’s enormous thanks, each spring the library hosts an annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon at which time the hard work and dedication of each volunteer is formally acknowledged by the library director, staff and members of the city administration. This year’s volunteer event was held at the Lighthouse Point Yacht Club and a very enjoyable afternoon was had by everyone in attendance.
